Bio

Cukia "Sugar" Kimani is a game director at ALL DAY ALL NIGHT, a small mom-and-pop dev shop he runs with his partner, Henrike "Riker" Lode. He's known for creating quirky, offbeat game prototypes—strange little ideas brought to life with just enough polish to make them sing. Sugar shares his process through short, punchy devlog-style videos on TikTok, where he celebrates the joy of prototyping and game-making in public.

Before starting ALL DAY ALL NIGHT, Sugar co-founded and served as technical director of the award-winning African studio Nyamakop. Alongside co-founder Ben Myres, he helped shape Nyamakop into what Polygon once called "one of the most promising studios in African game development." In 2018, Forbes Africa named him one of their 30 under 30 for his work building the studio from the ground up.

Nyamakop's debut title, Semblance, made history as the first African IP to launch on a Nintendo platform. The game was shown all over the world, picked up several awards, and helped spotlight African creativity on the global stage.

Earlier in his career, Sugar co-created Boxer, a wild, literal top-down boxing game that went on to win the inaugural A MAZE./Johannesburg Award in 2015. He's also a seasoned public speaker, having shared stories and lessons from his journey at events like GDC, A MAZE./Berlin, and Respawn.
